It was 20 years ago today that I caught a flight to say g’day. Moving from the United Kingdom to Australia was the biggest decision of my life, but it’s wonderful to be here, and it’s certainly a thrill.
What was your favourite thoroughbred racing story of 2020? Mine was Lee Newman pulling down the pants of Frankie Dettori, Ryan Moore and 11 other jockeys to win the Bahrain International Trophy with his fabulous front-running ride.
Which raced and unraced Australian thoroughbreds are you most excited about heading into 2021? I cannot wait for the next chapter in Clairvoyance’s career and, hopefully, the debut of a daughter of a mare which died suddenly in August.

One of my last acts at Perth Racing was to name/rename seven races after legendary Western Australian thoroughbreds, one of which was Eurythmic, the skeleton of which is one of the sports exhibits at the WA Museum Boola Bardip.
