MACQUARIE WAS AHEAD OF LEARNING CURVE

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of online and remote learning, but Macquarie University was ahead of the curve in the early 2010s, and it was my responsibility as its Product Evangelist to convert academics and students.

iLab, iLearn and iTeach were just three of the technology goods that I launched on behalf of Macquarie University’s Informatics department. Informatics is a business unit that creates an information technology leading edge for Macquarie University, its people designing, deploying and delivering great products and services to researchers, students and teachers to engender productivity, enjoyment and happiness.

I had most to do with iLab, which was Macquarie University’s personal computer laboratory on the internet, enabling students to use the applications they require to do their work from anywhere, any time, on anything. iLab was a game changer when it was released in 2011, and its service life lasted eight years before AppStream superseded it in 2019.
